Ever since Valisure’s study discovered high levels of benzene - a known cancer causing chemical- in 78 commonly used sunscreens, I have been vigilant about finding sunscreens that are safe. If you're curious about which products were discovered to be hazardous, click here to find the study results. Products (on page 12, Table 2) are listed in order of highest levels of benzene detected to lowest levels of benzene detected.
When trying out a new product, I alway always check the individual product and don’t assume it’ s good because the brand is generally good or vice versa. Product safety varies a TON even within the same brand. So, I always refer to EWG's product ratings before making a purchase.
After reviewing the study's list of tested sunscreens, searching and trying out different brands, these 3 specific products have become staples!
