Mindfulness has a number of benefits, and is most commonly used as a tool to calm anxiety and gain awareness about changes in mood. You can practice mindfulness by observing your inner world: your thoughts, emotions, physical sensations in your body, what you taste or smell. And you can also practice mindfulness by observing your external world: what you feel, see and hear around you.
Not only is mindfulness a very helpful tool for improving your mental health, it's also extremely helpful for understanding signs from the Universe. Without mindfulness it can be harder to connect the dots, so to speak. You may receive signs from the Universe and have no idea what to even make of it.
Often, the message Spirit wants you to know can be uncovered in your own thoughts. Sometimes signs present themselves to emphasize a particular thought you have. For example, you are sitting in traffic lost in your thoughts or day dreams and all of a sudden receive a rush of adrenaline and warm tingle over your arms and heart. The sign is the physical sensation in your body and the message of importance lies in what you were just thinking.
Sometimes signs present themselves as a way to emphasize things you hear around you that are important for you to know. For example, your ear starts ringings or your hearing gets distorted. As soon as you realize, pay attention to what you just heard around you. It could be a conversation you overhear, something someone is saying to you, something you hear on TV or a song you're listening to, etc. The sign is the physical sensation in your ear and the message is in what you hear/just heard around you.
Other times, signs come in the form of a 'weird occurrence', something that strikes you as odd, like a hawk that swoops down right in front of you. Tune into what you are thinking and feeling in that very moment. When these type of signs occur, often the first thing you think is the message rather than what you logically analyze and deduct afterwards. Once you stumble on the right interpretation, Spirit will confirm it.
In each of these scenarios, having that initial awareness and attention to what you are thinking, feeling, hearing etc. makes playing detective of what the Universe is communicating a whole lot easier! If you are new to mindfulness, it can be super easy to loose track of what’s running through your mind and normal to be totally unaware of how you're actually feeling. Like anything else, it takes practice before you are able to do this more naturally with less effort. Practice with Spirit. Spirit knows the messages you get and the ones you don't. They don’t just send one message and that’s it- you’ve missed it. They will continue to send you signs even after you understand what they are trying to communicate, so, don't stress yourself out trying to understand each and every sign.
Each sign is a new opportunity to practice being mindful. As you stumble across a sign, focus on really tuning into your inner world, then what you observe around you. With practice, you'll be able to quickly and easily pinpoint the message Spirit has for you.
